Western Digital VelociRaptor: A Drive with a Bite
![]()
The original Western Digital Raptor was launched as the WD360GD in March of 2003 with an enterprise level 10,000 RPM spindle speed, SATA interface, 8MB buffer, 5.2 millisecond read seek time, and a single-platter design featuring 36GB of storage. While it shined in single-user performance, the drive did not fare well against its SCSI-based competitors in the enterprise server market. Limited by size and a complete lack of command queuing abilities, it delivered performance that was not up to par with the SCSI drives in critical multi-user scenarios. However, due to the lack of entry-level SCSI drives, a growing interest in SATA components, and a very avid computer enthusiast market, the drive was able to succeed and build a sterling reputation for Western Digital in the SATA market. Google Sandbox and Aging Delay Posted By : Anchu Jain
The Sandbox is part of Google’s ranking filters, the most important element of which appears to be time online and the age of your website. The age of your web site influences your rankings as well as the age of the web sites that link to your web site. In addition, Google checks when other web sites link to your site and how your inbound links grow over time.
Google’s sandbox filter seems to affect nearly all new websites placing them on an initial “probation” status. The effect of this is that new websites may get into Google’s SERP’s relatively quickly and may even perform well for a couple of weeks. When the filter is applied to the new website it is referred to as being put in the “sandbox”. (Read the full post about ‘Google Sandbox and Aging Delay Posted By : Anchu Jain’…)

In-house SEO - Is It A Good Choice? Posted By : Moe Tamani
Even the smartest or the most proficient businessman cannot be an expert in everything. He may be good in one or two business functions, but for all others, he may require the specialization of somebody else. It’s the same thing if you’re talking about getting your website optimized.
You can perhaps only count with your fingers those business owners who are also knowledgeable about search engine optimization and their technical roles in the business. After all, what they’re really concerned about is how the strategy may be able to help out in increasing their revenues. And because they don’t have the knowledge or even the skill, the next best option is to have the job outsourced. (Read the full post about ‘In-house SEO - Is It A Good Choice? DFI X48 LT T2R: Floats like a Butterfly…
![]()
After a very successful DFI P35 T2R motherboard launch, DFI endeavored to apply the same level of engineering expertise to Intel’s X38/X48 chipsets. We did not review the DFI X38 motherboard, but instead decided to look at the X48-based motherboard from DFI in DDR2 form. Finally, after a slew of delays, Intel’s X48 chipset is available in large enough quantities to manufacturers to allow full retail rollout. Intel delivered the initial batches of X48 chipsets to preferred launch partners such as ASUS and Gigabyte who were first to market, but now we are seeing this chipset in boards from other suppliers. Sage - Instant Accounts v14
Aimed at the small business with little or no bookkeeping expertise, the latest version of Sage Instant Accounts is designed to make life easier for the accounting novice. There are no big changes, more a collection of minor improvements in the way the software works, including a new welcome page giving access to a range of sources of help and support plus a practice company that lets you experiment without affecting your own data. It’s also easier to fix errors in the new version, although we still found it hard going in places.
All you need to run Instant Accounts is a PC running Windows 2000 or later.
